Bostock!! and almond croissants...

Here are a few ideas of what to do with your day or two day old brioche and croissants....

The first is Bostock...we came across this recipe in a baking book that Taylor had ordered last winter...it is as good as french toast, but better because, you can eat it 'on the go'... we make our own brioche at the cafe for our french toast, so we always have a lot on hand....here is how you can create your own Bostock...

First, brush thickly sliced brioche with a simple syrup...a little orange zest would be nice
here...
Then spread some jam on top...here we are using orange marmalade..
but we have also used raspberry, which is my favourite...

Then spread with frangipane...we made our own

Then sprinkle with sliced almonds and into the oven at a moderate heat
until the brioche turns
golden brown.....cool and eat!

I will post more about the almond croissants in our next blog...watch this space!

This sounds delicious, a nice treat for a lazy weekend breakfast. Do you know where you can buy ready-made frangipane? Would love to give this a go.

Wow! A comment :) Ok Kristin, I noticed that you are in Milwaukee and we are in Ireland! So as far as finding a pre-made frangipane in your area, I wouldnt be able to help you....but I will post a recipe for a homemade one..Its nice to know that there are people other than our customers reading our blog...if you would like to see what we are doing here in Ireland, we have a facebook fan page under Diva Boutique Bakery, Ballinspittle, Co.Cork... thank you for the comment...it made my day!

OMG that looks so yummy. Please do post a recipe for your frangipane. Can you buy it ready made I've never seen it anywhere.

I love your blog so much although the food porn it provides does my diet no good at all.

Hopefully we're going on a trip to cork in the summer so we may get to pop in to try some of your delights.
