wow...what a busy few weeks..

Ok folks...here is a little update on the going on's in DBB...we made it through Thanksgiving...we had a special set menu last Friday...it went really well! We had the traditional Thanksgiving dinner, Diva style of course, and we had a full house...there were even a few North Americans who had been out of the country for 21 years, they were traveling around Ireland and heard about us..It was the first Thanksgiving dinner one guy had had in 11 years! He loved it...
Now on to the next big month December...Taylor decorated the window the other night with some really cute gingerbread people...I will post pictures on facebook or here soon, we are going to make a gingerbread house that you may be able to win...we also have some tasty treats in store for you!! One item that has been on the menu this past week is the pecan, cranberry and orange tart...
Plans are moving forward for our bakery across the street...will keep you posted on that as well...
shannen...

Above is a few photos from our thanksgiving dinner: the dessert plate has a pumpkin cheesecake, gingerbread stacks and a sour cream apple pie with a crumble topping! I have been making the cheesecake and apple pie for our own thanksgiving dinners for the last 17 years..
For dinner we served a free range local turkey, sweet potato gratin with a maple crema, green beans with brown butter and pancetta, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, roasted brussel sprouts, a sausage stuffing and a cranberry and fig chutney...yum yum!
here is a hint for a great stuffing, I learned this trick from my Grandpa Gibbons...use a few cans of beer in your stuffing instead of chicken stock...it adds a lovely yeasty flavour to the stuffing...I always use a dark beer...try it and let me know how it goes..
